i.e. is pleased to welcome Margaret Davidson back for a new solo exhibit.

Davidson's meticulous drawings are instantly recognizable. She masterfully builds marks into texture into convincing illusions of everyday objects; buttons, paper, a towel. Davidson's latest works explore the idea of home. The objects she draws are mundane, the kinds of things that end up buried in a drawer or stuffed in the back of a closet, unremarkable yet inexorably part of the home. We're invited to contemplate the objects, the spaces they reside, and ourselves in relation to each other. Where does each start and stop? Where do they overlap or expand beyond?

Davidson received a BFA in printmaking from the University of Michigan and an MFA in printmaking and drawing from the University of Washington. She has taught at Cornish College of the Art, Gage Academy and Pratt Fine Art Center of Seattle. In 2011 her popular book, Contemporary Drawing : Key Concepts and Techniques was published.
