AMONG THE TREES
I am not much of a fan of instagram but over the past 2 years I have loved seeing the images of painters I know who go into the woods and paint the trees and nature that abounds there. The paintings aren't necessarily done on the spot, plein air, but perhaps began there or from sketches, or photographs they have taken, or a melange of all of the above. But the immediacy of the woods, the smell of the forrest, and that particular wonderful air is part of the process. We have seen plenty of images of the fierce fires that have ravaged the West Coast and there is a grieving that accompanies that. But this exhibit is in celebration of trees. We are allowed to visit their villages, tribes and circles. We understand now that their communication is both deep and wide. And we come out better for it. As Pablo Neruda said in his appreciation of the Chilean Forrest.
"I have come out of that landscape, that mud, that silence, to roam, to go singing through the world."
We look forward to sharing this celebration with you.
