i.e. is thrilled to welcome Heidi Epstein back for her third solo exhibit with us. A long time Skagit Valley artist, Epstein continues to bring us work that is reflective in the deepest way. With pastel, watercolor and needlepoint she takes us to a place that is both transparent and saturated, buoyant and completely grounded and can touch both our sorrow and our joy.
Artist Statement
An artist is not so much CREATING as giving form to what is RECEIVED. *
These works were done during a time of my deepening awareness of both the dark atmosphere that our country has helped to spread over our world and the contrasting beauty, perfection and durability of life.
The show includes works in watercolor, dry pastel and wool yarn needlepoint tapestries, done over the last six years.
In my studio, I remain porous, permeable and absorbent to what I see and feel. My response to the process is precise and diligent. Although varied, all the works are personal experiments; manipulating the materials and color, giving form to my experience, to what I RECEIVE….
What have I learned?
Maybe something about being small, being one person, in the varied community of life and beauty.
2026. Heidi Epstein
